To rent a car in New Caledonia
Rent a car in New Caledonia can be really easy, you just need a valid driving licence and a minimum of 25 years old.
Road rules:
As in France, driving in New Caledonia is on the right hand side on the road.
The maximum limit are:
50 km/h or 30 km/h in residential areas
110 km/h on the main road "RT1" (except between Païta and Tontouta : 90 km/h)
Main roads throoughout New Caledonia are sealed and generally very well maintained. However, during heavy rains, some roads are prone to flooding.
Good to know: fuel rate, fixed by the gouvernment, is the same everywhere on the territory.
